Catapult Art Academy was born during the pandemic when founder Carmen Flores, a visual artist and mother of two, turned to art to navigate the challenges of isolation.

Originally from Mexico, Carmen holds a BFA in Painting from Universidad de las Américas Puebla and an MFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. Since moving to Texas in 2010, she has spent over a decade privately instructing art to  students of all ages. Flores is a curator and art advisor currently helping the city of Richmond Texas with an upcoming public art project.
